The Champions League 2022/23 Season

This is the time we have all been waiting for… the Champions League has finally begun! With also an exciting break where many of the Champions League football heroes will be battling it out for their national teams in the Qatar World Cup which is unusually being held in Autumn. In this article, I will share all the information on the group stage and predictions for the rest of the Champions League.

The teams that passed are in the round of 16and they must be first or second in the group

stage to pass, the round of 16 works like this; all the teams play twice against their opponent, and whoever scored the most wins and goes to the eighths of final and so on. These are the round of 16 this season: Milan-Tottenham, PSG-Bayern Munich, Club Brugge-Benfica, Dortmund-Chelsea, Liverpool-Real Madrid, SSC Napoli-Eintracht Frankfurt, Leipzig-Man City, Inter-Porto.

The teams that will go down to Europa League (a less glamorous cup than the Champions League) are, (if you are third in group stage you go to Europa League): Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen, Barcelona, Sporting Lisbon, Salzburg, Shakar Donetsk, Sevilla, and Juventus.

These are some predictions by OIS students:

Om Jay Dattani, and Lily Mora, two OIS students say: “we think Real Madrid will win.”

Joana Fernandes a year 8 student says: “Definitely Benfica!”

Jose Reis another year 8 student says: “PSG (Pais Saint Germain), will probably win the final by one goal, or at penalties against SSC Napoli.”

Tomás Cunha a year 7 student says: “I think it will be Bayern Munich.”

Francisco Vargas the OIS Vice Principal

says: “Maybe PSG.”
