Being in the month of January always means business in the football world. With the main transfer window being in the summer, the winter window usually brings less transfers. With teams making small adjustments to reach their targets for the end of the season, some deals to bring a spark of interest to the fans. At the time of writing the article, the window is not over yet and we could still see some deals fall through.
Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian midfielder did not have a great time in Barcelona. Having been transferred from Liverpool in 2018 for 135M€, Philippe did not live up to the expectations. His best moment of form was when he was loaned out to Bayern Munich in 2019, meaning that his best moment of form was not even with the Catalans, having also scored in the famous 8-2 win which saw Barça getting knocked out of the Champions League in a very embarrassing manner. Coutinho is now looking to bring back his form with a loan move to Premier League club Aston Villa, with a loan deal until the rest of the season where he’ll play for his ex-teammate Steven Gerrard as he is now in charge of the side from Birmingham. In his first game back, Coutinho jumped off the bench, scoring and assisting as Aston Villa rescued a point at home to Manchester United, making his return to the Premier League look very bright.
Anthony Martial
The French forward transferred from Monaco to Manchester United in 2015 with a fee of 60M€, even including a balloon d’or clause in his contract. Anthony had great potential and big expectations with a move every player dreams of, to a top club in England. However, his move did not work out very well and he has now left on loan until the end of the season to Sevilla, to hopefully find his best form once again.
Ferran Torres
The Spaniard is one of the top moves this winter. Having moved from arguably one of best teams in the world currently, where he was not getting much playtime, Manchester City, to a sleeping giant in Barcelona. Ferran Torres transferred for a fee of 55M€ with the hopes of hopefully becoming a top player for the Catalans. Barça are currently sitting 5th in Laliga being just one point off top 4 which would guarantee Champions League football for next season.
Dusan Vlahovic
Vlahovic is one of the top talents worldwide and every top club in the world is looking for his signature. The Serbian striker had been linked to Arsenal for a couple of weeks, but talks have broken down. Leading the pack seems to be Juventus, with a rumoured fee of about 70M€. “The Old Lady” has struggled this season and maybe a world class striker will save their season. Vlahovic has already scored 17 goals in Serie A for Fiorentina this season, making him one of the most exciting players in the Italian League.
This window has been quite eventful so far, and with a couple of days still left, who knows what it could still bring.
