The Cinematic Greatness at the End of the Year
With the festive season just around the corner, the time is high when the big screen would shine with some of the most anticipated movies for the year.
This season's films bring sweeping and surprisingly impressive historical dramas, thrillers and superhero blockbusters into wonderful promised grandeur and potential to inspire through their revelations.
Here is a closer look at the major buzzers making it big this holiday season.
Epic Prequels and Fantasy Adventures

The Lion King: Mufasa
The prequel to the well-loved live version of The Lion King in 2019, Mufasa takes on the backstory of the iconic lion king and speaks of how he got to rule. Set against the beautiful African landscape, the film will follow the journey of a young Mufasa, from humble cub to leader of the Pride Lands. It promises to be another example of eye-catching animation and a beautiful story that will lend fresh life to perhaps one of Disney's most beloved characters.

Wicked
A magical and heartrendingly American retelling of Gregory Maguire's book Wicked, this movie has the untold story of the witches in the land of Oz prior to Dorothy's coming. It turns and twists Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), the green-skinned witch who has misunderstood, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), the popular and bubbly witch into a world of magic, rebellion, and friendship. Expect grandeur in musical numbers and visuals, plus a deeper core regarding identity and power as well as the consequences of your choices in this adaptation.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3
This time, the blue blur assembles a combination of old friends and new allies to take on bigger threats than ever before: Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) does return as well. With fresh characters added onto the already phenomenal cast, wild action sequences, and the usual rib-tickling mix of humor and heart, Sonic 3 is bound to please even the most commited fans of the games, such as teens and young adults as well. Expect just the sort of thrilling relay races, and of course, plenty of fast-paced fun.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim
This animated movie, set hundreds of years prior to the incidents in “The Fellowship of the Ring,” centers on the past of Helm’s Deep. The latter is the site of what is probably the most famous battle in “The Two Towers.” This story revolves around Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan, who stands to defend his countrymen against dark forces in an epic match. Using breathtaking animation, The War of the Rohirrim adds another chapter to the majestic lore of Middle-earth and reveals two more at the depths of the history of Rohan-the kingdom and the iconic battle to come to determine the fate of the realm.
Dramas and Thrillers

The Fire Inside
This hard-sitting movie is about Claressa Shields, an Olympic Gold Medal-Winning boxer. An intense biographical drama chronicling her life journey. Stemming from rough beginnings in Flint, Michigan, she was destined to be the first American female boxer to claim a gold medal at the Olympics over the years. The reasons for her determination to overcome the odds against women in the male domain become clear here. A rousing, emotional film that promises powerhouse performances and an intimate viewing of a trailblazer in sports.

Carry-On
During the Holiday season, Carry-On is a deadly annual suspense thriller that has all the warmth of family get-togethers and the deadpan suspense associated with high-stakes situations. The plot involves a family reunion that quickly takes a turn for the sinister because, like every family, there are certain secrets that suddenly come to the fore. Carry-On stars Taron Egerton as Ethan Kopek, Jason Bateman as the Traveler, Sofia Carson as Nora Parisi, and Danielle Deadwyleras Elena Cole. In this tale, the combination of cheer and suspense is what makes it a perfect Christmas viewing.
Horror and Paranormal

Nosferatu
The film Nosferatu will be entirely different from what has happened so far, a remake of the famous silent horror film of 1922. According to the director of the film, Robert Eggers, it will be an interpretational approach toward the character of Count Orlock, a vampire who uses his sinister and dark powers to unnerve his victims. Judging by the ethereal pictures along with a modern twist to the screenplay of the original story, both the original horror buffs and novices in the genre will be spellbound. Neither of the two approaches alone, modern techniques or gothic ambiance, could create such a film; but with its techniques of today blending both ambiences of the original, Nosferatu promises to be a cinematic experience of terror.

Mufasa went beyond my expectations, I loved it! Should I watch Sonic? Does it catch as much attention as the videogame?
