What teams do Oeiras International School (OIS) students support?
For a survey that I made 1 out of 35 students said Qatar, 8 for Germany, 3 for Denmark, 21 for Brazil, 33 for Portugal, 10 for Netherlands, 3 for Croatia, 5 for Belgium, 11 for France, 6 for the U.S, 8 for England, 12 for Spain, 3 for Serbia, 2 for Switzerland, 2 for Iran, 13 for Argentina, 2 for south Korea, 3 for Japan, 1 for Saudi Arabia, 2 for Ecuador, 3 for Uruguay, 4 for Canada, 1 for Ghana, and 2 for Mexico. That is all from 35 students in OIS.
What teams Oeiras International School (OIS) thinks are going to win the finals?
32% out of 100% said that Brazil will win the finals and the rest said, Argentina, Uruguay, Korea, U.S.A, Netherlands, Spain, and France. So, let us just say, everybody has the same idea of the winner.
What teams Oeiras International School (OIS) thinks are going to lose in the finals?
16% said that Qatar would lose, and the rest said, Japan, Ghana, Iran, Tunisia, France, Italy, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Argentina, Portugal, Morrocco, Brazil, and Switzerland.
How does Oeiras International School (OIS) feel about the World Cup being held in Qatar?
Domingas Sottomayor stated “I think it was a bad choice. They are not ready to have a World Cup.",
Mathilde Elbert said, “I think that it's not the best country to have the World Cup",
Guilherme Rique said "Ridiculous, inhumane.”
Mia Goldwater said, “I do not think the world cup should be held in Qatar, it is a dessert.”
Lukas Cizmeci said, “Qatar paid to get World Cup in their country to get fame and economy growth.”
Lea Rumpsfeld said, “Bad, because lots of people died making the stadiums, it was very hot, and they didn't get paid well.”,
Azzah Alassaad “Even if it is "fair" and FIFA can't really change the location like that, I don't think Qatar is the right place. Technically speaking, they have no history with football and will have to build stadiums to accommodate the World Cup which will cost billions of dollars, that money could be spent on something else. The labour conditions of the workers are questionable and it was reported that many workers died on site. Also, Qatar forbid any businesses, including air conditioning, so the heat will be unbearable for the people who are watching it LIVE and especially the players.”
Gavin O'Donnell said, “It is wrong to host it where human rights are legally denied.”
And Francis Van de Bospoort said “I feel like the World Cup being held in Qatar is a scandal, Qatar just has a lot of money to host the world cup, even though a world cup is a world cup and it happens every 4 years, the Government does not pay the builders. The builders must work in conditions above 40 degrees in the middle of the desert to build the stadium. It is said that more than 5000 builders have died to starvation, thirst, or safety (No safety was provided while building the stadium).”
And Nicolas Romera said, “Ethically immoral because it goes against basic human rights such as lack of freedom of speech and exploitation of immigrant workers. It was also ridiculously expensive to finance.”
What I think about the World Cup being held in Qatar:
I think that having the World Cup being held in Qatar is not a good idea because Qatar is a country with no women's rights and homosexuality is illegal. Over 6500 workers were killed just for building a stadium. The workers had no safety, no food, and no water. To make matters worse, they worked for 14-16 hours straight with no breaks. Qatar has never been qualified for the World Cup in the past. My opinion is that since Qatar has lots of oil money and then they pay FIFA. Lastly, they had an advanced cooling system (air conditioning), but they are only using it for the World Cup and not the workers.
