The vegan and vegetarian diet has become more and more popular over the years because of its long-lasting benefits to health and reducing amounts of cholesterol or saturated fat intake. There are currently various restaurants all around the Cascais, Lisbon, and Oeiras area that have recently opened with delicious vegan options for an accessible gourmet experience to all.
1. House of wonders, Cascais
House of Wonders is known as a popular vegetarian mezze (appetizers) restaurant and café rooftop located in the heart of Cascais that focuses on Mediterranean cuisine. They have numerous vegan options which include smoothie bowls and vegetable salads. The menu also consists of delicious juices, pastries, raw-vegan desserts, and soup. I personally really enjoyed the décor and architecture style along with the friendly staff, location, and overall peaceful ambiance. I would recommend visiting for a quick and sunny lunch experience on their rooftop for a delicious fresh juice. This is an excellent option for vegans or vegetarians as their menu is quite accessible to all.
Address: R. da Misericórdia 53, 2750-642 Cascais
2. The Green Affair, Lisbon
The Green Affair is a great restaurant with amazing food for brunch including their amazing starters such as the hot sauce and tartar or cauliflower wings with panko. The restaurant is inspired by international cuisines from all over the globe. Personally, I really enjoyed the vegan concept, the atmosphere, and the nice staff. The food is very well presented, and portions are quite fair most of the time. Overall, it is a great vegan brunch option with a large variety of dishes and interesting flavor combinations. Address: R. Serpa Pinto 15A, 1200-443 Lisboa
3. Zenith, Lisbon
Zenith is one of the most visited brunch places around Lisbon because of its excellent dishes and service with adequate gluten-free options. The food is delicious, ranging from pancakes, smoothie bowls, to scrambled eggs and tapiocas. Zenith has excellent reviews from thousands of individuals who appreciate the quick wait time, friendly staff, and flavorful taste. I would recommend Zenith as a great brunch option for vegans and non-vegans. I personally really enjoyed their benedict eggs and chicken toast with cheddar cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. The restaurant is lovely, and the menu is fantastic with a variety of admirable selections. Address: R. do Telhal 4A, 1150-346 Lisboa
4. The Den, Oeiras
The Den is another great plant-based restaurant which seeks to show people how easy it is to switch directly from animal products to vegetables in a much more sustainable way. The restaurant suggests that following a plant-based diet can help save countless amounts of water, drastically reduce carbon emissions, or waste, and allow the oceans to regenerate while improving our health and bodies. The Den specializes in vegan traditional Portuguese cuisine such as the fake “chouriço” for starters or even the “chicken” madras for the main course. The business chain also has a grocery store with vegan marshmallows or KitKats, and chocolate or lemon muffins. I believe the Den is a nice sustainable and plant-based restaurant in Oeiras which offers numerous healthy options accessible to everyone.

5. Honest Greens, Lisbon
Honest Greens is a healthy fast-food restaurant with sustainable aims and goals. Their products and ingredients are ecologically sourced, mostly organic, free of preservatives or additives and unprocessed. At Honest Greens, the customers are encouraged to build their plates step-by-step including adding a protein with vegan options such as tempeh or falafel and choosing a vegan sauce with a plant-based side dish. The menu is all gluten-free apart from the homemade bread, and mostly all desserts are vegan. The chain also has a breakfast menu, burritos, smoothie bowls, and pancakes. Honest Greens is an excellent vegetarian-friendly restaurant in Lisbon which offers a great co-working friendly space and various locations all around the city.
