10. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas

This amazing album from the band Mayhem contains a crushing, black metal tone, mixed with fast drumming and mysterious singing. Personally, I think that this album has no bad songs. The best songs of this album are – 1. Funeral Fog, 2. Freezing Moon, and their self-titled, 3. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
9. Deathcrush

Another album by Mayhem, but this time Deathcrush came out before De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, Deathcrush being released in 1987 and De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas being released in 1994. This album, although, features a much “raw” sound, making it sound perfect for that time, making the band famous. The best song here (my personal opinion) is their self-titled song, Deathcrush.
8. Transilvanian Hunger
This album, released in February 1994, is a perfect competitor for Mayhem’s Deathcrush. Containing very raw sounding guitars and bass, mixed with harsh and strong vocals, making it one of the most famous black metal albums of the 90s and onto this day.
7. Bathory

This album, written by the band Bathory, is considered to be one of the best ones in the black metal scene, with thick-sounding guitars and bass, and frightening vocals. This album is must-have for metal fans.
6. Fallen Angel of Doom

Fallen Angel of Doom…. Blasphemy is another band that performs in the genre of black metal. This album in particular combines the techniques of death metal guitar playing and even somewhat growling for the vocals, even though they are not, the vocals are deep and catchy, like every other song in this album.
5. Drawing Down the Moon

Drawing down the moon is a narrow combination of doom and black metal – slow tempos, “heavy” riffs, but also raw-sounding recording of the guitars. This album is one of my favourites and I recommend it for everyone in and out of the genre.
4. Human Waste

This classic album, containing elements of grindcore and death metal, is made by the death metal pioneers, Suffocation. Considered to be one of the best in the genre, it is famous in both of them. This album has distorted vocals and very crazy fast and slow riffs.
3. Storm of the Light’s bane

This album is one of my favourites that I listen to (nearly) every day. “Thick” tone and interesting vocals, making this album the best in the genre. Even though the band separated, the albums still stay one of the best.
2. For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike

This only album that was made by the band, Kvist, is very melodic and I am sure that many people will like it. This album has symphonies, melodic guitar playing, and traditional black metal vocals. Even though they released only one album, it’s one of the best (my opinion).
1. Filosofem

This album is the first on this list and is deserved. Originally released in January 1996, it was recorded between 1993 and 1994. This album features original black metal guitar tone with distorted vocals and melodic riffs with chords.
