The Met Gala

The Met Gala is the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute benefit; each year there is a different exhibition and this year it is ‘A Lexicon of Fashion’ which is Part One of a two-part mega-show/argument for the relevancy of and power of American Fashion.

Every gala has its own dress code and the designers who attend almost always come with their own celebrity whom they dress accordingly. This means the guest becomes a walking advertisement for the host and well as an ad for the show. The hosts who attended the Met Gala this year were Amanda Gorman, Timothée Chalamet, Naomi Osaka and Billie Eilish.

Met Gala this year was quite different to the previous years because of Covid-19 and they took measures such as a smaller guest list, social distancing, proof of vaccination and a negative covid test result.
