The Israel and Palestine conflict has had a long lengthy history spanning over 70 years of conflict and war. This is day 44 of the war between the two after October 7th.
On October 7th of 2023 the group Hamas launched a surprise assault against Israel breaking through its borders coming through from the Gaza Strip. Around 1,200 Israeli people were killed and 250 people were taken hostage in the assault. Responding to the attack Israel preceded to drop airstrikes in Gaza and killed over 10,000 Palestinians. The conflict is constantly developing and ongoing. People from both sides of the war are feeling the consequences.

In the Gaza strip, where much of the war is wreaking havoc, buildings are being destroyed and demolished. Life there is practically inhabitable. Gaza is experiencing many air strikes coming from Israeli forces. Many Palestinians have evacuated their homes in fear of death and destruction.
On November 10th at least 4 strikes hit Al – Shifa from Israeli forces.
The Al – Shifa hospital is filled with the injured and dying. On November 13th it was reported that many patients at the hospital are dying from lack of power. Power outages and fuel shortages are another consequence of the war. Some other hospitals are no longer functional due to the lack of this resource.
Most recently Israeli forces raided the hospital Al-Shifa on the Gaza strip in search of tunnels. They found a 55-meter-long tunnel leading to a door, on the campus of Gaza’s largest hospital. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) will demolish the tunnel soon. They believe there may be an extensive tunnel system that they have not uncovered yet. However, Hamas refutes this claim saying there is no tunnel system below the hospital.
Not only are adults being affected by this conflict rather seriously but infants as well. 28 premature babies interned at the Al – Shifa hospital are being evacuated as tensions rise to a different hospital more towards the south of Gaza.
Both antisemitic and Islamophobic hate speech has dramatically increased across social media platforms with the ongoing war.
The death toll of civilians is one of the highest it’s been since the beginning of the conflict, in 1982 when Israel invaded Lebanon the death toll of civilians was higher.
Many other countries are urging Israel to call a cease fire and put an end to the bloodshed and the war.
