From the beginning of this school year, a student organized, school based club: EU Green Challenge has been founded. The main purpose of this club is to raise awareness of young students (year 2 to year 7) about the climate crisis and help them to take actions to reduce their pollution.
At the moment, we are working on three main tasks. First and foremost, we create weekly challenges for young students to complete. These challenges are actions that are easy to take yet hard to do everyday. For instance, can you have a shower in 5 to 10 minutes? How about brushing your teeth with 1 cup of water? By asking young students to complete these environmentally friendly challenges, they will form a great habit. If you are also curious about these challenges, check them out on our website or the board in the corridor of the white building!
Our second mission is to publish a variety of infographics about the global environment. These infographics cover a variety of content, from destruction of ecosystems to climate change, from pollution to deforestation. They contain lots of knowledge about the environment. If you are curious, find them on our instagram account (@greenchallenge_ois)
or on the board in the corridor of the white building!
We are also participating in the Green Innovator Challenge organized by the World Trade Organization. This is a challenge in which we will present a project to the WTO and receive support from them if they consider this project innovative and practical. It is a great activity for student activists!
If you are reading this article as a parent or a teacher, help us out by encouraging your children or students to participate or complete those challenges. If you are a student, we would love you to join our club and work together to build a better school!
