The ‘unmissable’
- The French Dispatch

Ending the tortuous wait after being postponed over 3 times, The French Dispatch, directed by Wes Anderson is finally coming out. This film is said to be a love letter to journalism by narrating the tales of the fictional 20th century French newspaper “The French Dispatch Magazine''. Of course, all with a perfectly symmetrical background with pastel pallet, as expected from Anderson.
- Dune

The adaptation from Frank Herbert’ novel, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. What will be released this year will be the first of two parts and will cover roughly the first half of the book. The casting will count with Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet. "I would not agree to make this adaptation of the book with one single movie... Dune is too complex (with) power in details”-Villeneuve
The ‘skippable’
- The Matrix 4 (& Sequels broadly) Like come on, another one?! Wasn’t the last one bad enough? One more example of a sequel to a nice, well rounded meaningful story, simply for the extra box office bucks. Probably another sequel that we would look back on and rather pretend it didn't happen. I am not completely disregarding the possibility it may surprise and actually bring a new perspective instead of just recycling the same story, but as it was not the case for the last sequel (and most sequels in Hollywood), I doubt this will be the case.
- Cinderella (& Remakes broadly) Why do people remake good films? Is the public really incapable to sit for two hours and tolerate slightly worse quality sound and resolution? Does a history really need a modern spin every 30 years for you to be able to tolerate it? Live actions to me, are that idea taken to the extreme. Is the 40 year old animation so unwatchable that you need to see real people acting in it? Or is it a way of the studio getting money off you twice for the SAME story, characters, lines and development? Instead of watching the overdone re-make, why not give an original story a shot?
**Disclaimer: The ‘skippable’ films are simply a matter of personal opinion and input with the knowledge and experiences I had. Please, do not take this as a personal attack despite your love for Keanu Reeves.
