Huge News for the Indie Game Community: Silksong Release Date and Dead Cells DLC

This month had been a big hype for the indie game community. Indie games are games that are created by an individual or a small group of developers without financial or technical support from large game publishers. So why is it a big hype for them? That is because two of the most popular games are getting updates - one’s getting downloadable content (DLC) and the other, is getting a sequel to the original game.

Dead Cells is a traditional roguelike platformer game. The storyline is its main character, the beheaded, heading into a kingdom that’s been spread with malaise (described as a type of disease), trying to find a cure for it. During his adventures, he finds multiple “lore rooms” with information about the storyline of the game. The gameplay can be defined with three words, hard, different, fascinating. It is a hard game, however, once you get the hang of how to play the game, you will be able to enjoy it. It consists of different weapons, enemies and biomes. (Can go through different biomes to reach the ending which means there are different routes, therefore, different playstyles) There is a total of 50+ weapons and 15+ Biomes (Levels with monsters in them). With the new DLC, the Queen and the Sea, new weapons, outfits and biomes are found. Furthermore, what makes this DLC an interesting one is that it adds another ending to the game. Before, the game only had one ending, but now, there is a new one. This does not only mean new lore to be added for dedicated players to piece together the full story, but it also means that players have new playstyles to go for when playing.

Hollow Knight is an action roleplay game. Its story line is a lonely bug without a name exploring in the “Hollow Nest” (The kingdom in the game) and finding out lore while beating enemies and getting charms (provides special abilities) when playing. The gameplay is amazing, there are just so many areas that you can explore, many varieties of bosses/enemies you can go against, many upgrades you can get, many NPCs (non-playable characters) you can talk to and lore that you can collect. Hollow Knight has already finished updating and is a full, complete game. The sequel that is coming out in February 2022 is called Hollow Knight: Silk Song. It is going to be the story of one of the bosses in Hollow Knight, “Hornet”. In this sequel, you get to play as Hornet, and experience a brand-new story with that character with new combat/charm systems! This announcement brings a lot of excitement because the Hollow Knight community has been waiting for it for almost 3 years after its in-making announcement. From the teasers that Team Cherry (developers of Hollow Knight) have given out, I am sure that the sequel will not be a sequel to the legendary game, but a legendary game itself.
