Here are the most popular cuisines on Instagram!

The obsession with all things food has is unstoppable. It may have begun with celebrity TV chefs and culinary competitions, but social media, particularly Instagram, has transformed spectators into creators as millions of people share their gourmet experiences online. According to Chef's Pencil, Japanese cuisine was the most popular dish we loved to show off and tag on social media. Japanese food garnered over 15 million Instagram tags, about one million more than the runner-up, Italian food. Over the past year, Asian cuisines dominated the rankings, with Indian, Korean, and Thai food rating third, fourth, and fifth, respectively, while Chinese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Filipino food rated seventh to tenth. While dozens of new Asian regional cooking traditions led the rankings, you might be wondering where all of the cuisine trends, such as sourdough, fit in. According to Chef's Pencil, our passion for showing off all of our favourite cakes, breads, ice cream, and more was motivated by comfort. These goods may not have received a tag indicating a location, so they cannot be counted towards any one area.
