Fumer Fait Tousser

Fumer fait tousser is a French movie directed by Gerard Durpeux who is a famous French director, known for the movie Rubber in 2010. The genre of the movie is comedic and we can already see that when looking at the cover as we recognize some famous French comedians, such as Jean-pascal Zadi. The movie is not as simple as a story, in truth there are 3 stories in one movie.

The base of the movie is actually very simple. It starts off when the tobacco force is attacking a very scary and mean looking gigantic turtle. If you’ve ever watched the power rangers as a kid, the first scene is very similar to most fighting scenes and there even is a combination where the whole teams unites to make one extremely strong weapon. They end up beating this turtle but not without their own share of difficulties. To make it simple, there is not team cohesion whatsoever, they’ve lost their touch. Then they receive a phone call form their leader, Didier. A rat like person that constantly has some sort of slimy spit flowing out from the sides of his mouth. He tells them to take a break as a team to rebuild team cohesion as Lezardin, the equivalent of their Darth Vader, is preparing another attack.

The story then begins as we follow the different superheroes in their vacation home. They all sit around a fireplace and recite their own horror stories. In total three horror stories are told. Each one weirder than the last. None of them are truly scary, I can confidently say that as I am constantly scared of everything in any horror movie. I cried when I watched Minions 2.

Now what makes it different is the fact that it is so deconstruct and so unique in its construction. What I also find very amusing is the actual kind of comedy that is present in this movie. It reminds me of the famous American cartoon show, Family Guy. More importantly, I really like the actors, they are all very famous in the French movie scene and are all very funny. The last thing that I enjoy with this movie is the way that it makes fun of the whole superheroes universe, similarly but in a different way to the tv series, The Boys.
