Flying car

In the past week, a hybrid car-aircraft (CarAir) was confirmed with an airworthiness certificate. Does this mean soon we will be asking ourselves: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a flying car!

It seems like something we imagine in the very distant future, but it is happening in the present! It is equipped with an MBW engine and runs on regular fuel. It takes a total of 2 minutes and 15 seconds to transform from a car into an aircraft that can fly for 70 hours and more than 200 takeoffs and landings. It can go at speeds over 100 mph (160 kph) at an altitude of 2,500 meters (8,000ft).

In June a 35-minute flight between international airports was completed and the company said that soon they would fly from London to Paris. There are also other companies attempting to create similar vehicles that can both drive and fly.

The creator says this won't be something like regular cars. It will be used not for personal transportation and possibly as Air-Taxi services.

The issue is that it requires a pilot´s license to fly and companies have been working on developing an air-car that doesn’t require this license. If this is achieved, then this could potentially be more of a personal transport vehicle.
