Me and my group started our journey into the mountain with a positive attitude and great sense of humour. Through out the walk there were times where we had to help each other carried different things, an example would how me and a team member carried the tent for three people at different times of the walk. At the start of the walk, one could find very inclined hills that make me nervous just by thinking of them again, unfortunately the path contained more up hills and there was a shortage of down hills which made the group angry.
I would have to work on my communications skills if I were to go on this journey again. As one walks five hours per day, they must keep them selves entertained and talking to there groups is by far the most effective. As the walk continued the conversations started running low, the group split in two, this where I could improve my communication skills, most of the walk most people just keep silent. I would like to improve my physical abilities, even though I was not of the fastest in the group I do believe I managed to keep up, but it could help the group If I were faster.
A good way I could prepare my self for the next expedition would be to practice my cooking capabilities, since on the first night the group spent a lot of time cooking. Another option would be to continuously do some cardio in order to improve my stamina. One thing I need to improve is my mapping skills, in the journey two members of the group managed the map most of the time and we got lost on the first, but we were able to get back on track.
My absolute favourite part was when a dog started following our group, then it followed another group. That dog walked with that group the entire journey and we were even able to pet him in the check points. The groups decided to name him Juan Pedro, we found him at our first starting point, a fire station.
My most disliked part was the sleeping experience; the other groups made a lot of noise, and it was quite difficult to sleep. Another factor would be how I’m not used to sleeping in a sleeping bag. The worst part as when the bag broke and I had to wake to fix, it took about 10 minutes, but it was insanely cold that night and I was extremely tired.
