On Wednesday, 23 of February in 2022, the DP Visual Art class roamed Lisbon’s visual culture. This was done by visiting three different expositions, in different museums, from 9:30 am to 3:10 pm. This trip was organized by Mister Zamith and supervised by the same and Mister Santos.

The first exhibition was in the National Museum of Ancient Art (Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga), which opened it’s doors in 1884. In this museum it was extremely interesting and educative perceive the art pieces and try to identify the characteristics of the art movements present. However, the highlight was that at the end, it was possible to watch the restoration of some art pieces, through a glass wall.

The second exhibition was in the National Museum of Contemporary Art (Museu de Arte Comtemporânea do Chiado), which was founded in 1911. Many of the art pieces founded in the exhibition were inspired in famous long dead artist. Hence, once more, it was educational and amusing to try identifying those artists used as muses.

The third and last exhibition was in the Belém Cultural Center (Centro Cultural de Belém), which opened to the public in 1989. Here it was surprising that the students had to be divided into two groups, one with each teacher, so to abide by the covid rules. Still, it was entertaining to travel in smaller groups to observe the art pieces.
In the end, the year twelves were able to enjoy the rich history and art of the Portuguese culture. Thus, they are thankful that the school gave permission for it to happen, and are in the hopes, this type of experience can happen with higher frequency.
