Dead Cells Update 28 Alpha Release and Potential New Motion Twins’ Game Incoming?

On the 9th of February, Motion Twins, the creator of dead cells has announced through steam that Update 28 Alpha is open to the public. Dead Cells has always been a popular rogue-like game in the indie game community, and this update once again is able to bring new strategies and ways of playing the game. As seen from the last couple of months, Motion Twins has been getting a lot of updates out of Dead Cells, this means that they are showing dedication in the potential of the game.
This may reveal that they have finished designing or planning out a new game and that is why they are now focusing on Dead Cells’ community now. There has been no news about the game that they might be secretly developing but judging from how Dead Cells turned out to be, we can expect something of quality coming from Motion Twins.
The update alpha added a new biome, “The Bank”, 3 new enemies, 3 new weapons, and 3 new mutations. A biome is basically a level in the game, so this means that there is a new level. Enemies, weapons and mutations are obtainable items in the game which means that the strategy of playing the game may change. This can be shown from the features we get from the bank. According to the post made on Steam, the three new weapons all relate to the currency in game, gold. The Gold Digger deals critical damage when you have a certain amount of gold, the Dagger of Cupidity deals critical damage 3 seconds after you pick up gold and Money Shooter shoots the gold that you have. Mutations are abilities that you can select to help you beat the game. Midas’ Blood gives you gold when you lose health, Gold Plating makes it so that you lose gold instead of health when you get hit and Get Rich Quick stacks up gold when you kill enemies while you have a speed boost and cashes in when it ends. Since gold has always been an almost useless currency in Dead Cells, we can see Motion Twins’ intentions of making some use of the gold. However, it may depend upon how good the weapons and mutations are in the game to see if gold will become a useful currency.
