Disorder. Let’s start there. When I think of the word disorder, I think of the word problem. When I define it on google words that come up are things like mess, problem, disease, infection, issue, abnormal. Many people don’t know how bad ADHD can be and that’s an issue, however an even bigger issue is how they get treated. The average diagnosis age for ADHD is 3- 7 years old sometimes later. Imagine being told by someone that you have a disorder. That something wrong with you. That to fix the issue in your brain you need to take pills.
It’s shown that people with ADHD are 10 times more likely to develop depression than people without. 50% of kids and teens with ADHD have coexisting Anxiety. Yet parents whose kids have ADHD question why they act the way they do. Why they’re distant or moody or emotionally unavailable.
When parents tell their teens every morning to take their pills after the day is over do they know the side effects? Or did they skip the part where the pills that are supposed to fix you break you down emotionally and physically, where you can’t tell if your angry of if you want to endlessly cry. But if that’s what it takes to get the good grades in school then its ok.
How is that ok? How is that not mentally abusive to a child? How could a child growing up like that be successful?

These teens and kids have a need.
They need to grow up in a happy environment. They shouldn’t be subjected to medication daily so that they can fit into the needs of society. They’re just kids. It shouldn’t matter if they have a dopamine deficiency or not in order for them to have a childhood.
